What Action Learning looks like

Reg Revans, father of Action Learning

Action Learning is a model for organizational management and operation that focuses on collaborative problem solving.  It was pioneered by physicist Reginald Revans in the UK in the 1930's at the University of Cambridge, as he was looking for a way to combine the skills of many talented scientists. Hmm, wonder what they could have been working on, a big physics project in the 1930's...

Learning Kalidescope

As an assignment in AOD 5403: Facilitating Adult Learning, we were instructed to write introspective papers using the professor's own "kaleidoscope" model.  The idea is that a kaleidoscope shades or colors our view of the world as we look through it, and the kaleidoscope changes the view as we change our orientation around it.  This model allows for personal growth and development to change one's perspective.

Theory of Change

Last night I attended a symposium sponsored by Young Involved Philadelphia for the State of Young Philly program (#SOYP15). The symposium, Make It Happen: Sustainable Solutions for Philly, was a quick-and-dirty (clean?) workshop meant to inform aspiring activists how to build a grassroots movement. I learned about the event at the last minute through my friend Julie's Green Philadelphia blog for sustainability, and since it was co-sponsored Temple University, I thought it would be a great opportunity to network with similarly motivated environmental activists.

Kevin is a trainer

Kevin is a trainer.

It is an assertive statement. It sets your expectation for a certain professional knowledge on my part. Through this blog, I plan to explore issues related to training design and delivery, organizational development, and how other topics and factors relate to these areas.

I will be graduating from Temple University in May of '17 with an Master's of Education in Adult and Organizational Development. In the meantime, I am exploring career opportunities that will provide more hands-on experience relating to these areas. I invite you to connect with me on Twitter @kevinisatrainer and on LinkedIn.
